Mae West
Actress, singer, screenwriter, singer, and sex symbol Mae West made many splashes throughout her life for being one of the most controversial stars of her day. She wrote, produced, directed, and starred in a Broadway show called “Sex,” which ulitmately landed her in jail on moral charges. Though she could have paid bail, she decided jail time would have been better for the publicity (what a badass!) Her next show “The Drag” dealt with homosexuality, and was banned from being performed on Broadway. West was voted the 15th greatest female screen legend of classic American cinema.
This month we’ll be highlighting some of our favorite women throughout history. Who would you like us to talk about?
As part of celebrating Women's History Month, we are trying to be sure that we can support our endorsed candidates the best we can. You can help us do this and get more women elected by becoming a member and making a contribution to our PAC. Your money helps us financially support our candidates' campaign and ensures we see more progressive, pro-choice women in office.
